Generators are a kind of motors that instead of converting electrical energy to mechanical energy like normal motors, they transform mechanical energy to Electrical energy. For example, in class Julio showed us a generator that needed to be pushed by a person so that the mechanical energy of the push could be transformed by the generator and then a lightbulb could turn on with that energy.

Copper is not magnetic. When we put an electric current flowing though it, a magnetic field starts flowing around the copper and it becomes magnetic, for example, when you connect one side of the copper to one side of the battery and connect a magnet at the other side of the battery and then make the copper touch the magnet the whole copper will start moving because a circuit is completed. In a car motor the metal sticks that are touching the wire are already magnetic thanks to the cable that is connected to them, this sticks make the copper magnetic instantly, the magent below the copper is pulling the copper and when the car is moving forward the copper starts spinning.

Electromagnetic Activity

In the Pre-activity we needed to use a wire, connect it to the battery by the positive and negative poles and get the compass touching the wire, the arrows of the compass started spinning around because of the electrons that started flowing through the wire very fast and they created some sort of waves surrounding the wire that made the magnet and the arrows inside the compass filled with a lot of electrons that were moving around.

In the main activity we had to take a cable and tangle it spinning the cable thorugh a nail and then trying to pick up clips with the tip of the nail, we made a chart diving the turns of the wire though the mail and the amount of clips lifted. We discovered that with more turns of the wire in the nail the more clips we could lift and we thought it was by all the magnetismo the nail started to acquire.
